What is the difference between backing and laying?

Backing is betting that something will happen — you pick a horse and you need it to win. Laying is the opposite: you bet against a selection on the Betfair Exchange, and you collect the backer's stake when it loses. Lay services win a high share of their bets but carry liability, meaning one loser can cost several winners. Backing services win less often at bigger prices. PuntHub lists both, because they suit different punters and different bankrolls.

Closed services
