We could be sailing close to the wind with today’s pick – Gold Aura – who is a consistent 4 year-old that was a close second (head) at Yarmouth last time out.
Oisin Murphy is a plus in the saddle too, but despite these slight niggles – it remains, the horse is still 0-from-15. Therefore, she clearly finds it hard to get the job done – despite having finished in the top three 11 times.
The handicapper has also not helped either in raising her another 2lbs from last time – so, I guess, the theory here is that if she couldn’t win off ratings between 65-68 the last seven times, then what is going to change off a mark of 69?
She’s also in a better grade than last time (Class 5) and has a big racing weight to carry (10-2) being the top-rated in the field – this will be the biggest burden she’s lumped to date.
Yes, there are only five other runners and really two of those look big outsiders. However, recent winner Starshine Legend looks unexposed and we’ll have this Ferguson horse on our side.
Plus we’ll also have Gosden’s Campaign Medal, who is surely better than it’s shown to date, and another lightly-raced sort in Secret Beach.
