Two runs back Scarriff bolted up here at Musselburgh over 1m – winning by 5 1/2 lengths in the first time blinkers.
However, the same headgear off a 10lb higher mark failed to have the same impact last time – when only third (of 9) over 7f at the same track.
This Rebecca Menzies runner is also still off a 10lb higher rating than his win and the blinkers are on again. Therefore, she’s still got a fair bit to prove off this rating and also over this longer 1m1f trip. Backed up by having raced beyond 1m six times and been beaten on each occasion.
The other negative are that the yard are only 1-from-18 at the moment and we’ll also have the Jim Goldie runner Shine On Brendan on our side – this horse has won this race for the last two seasons and is weighted to go well again.
