Wednesday (17th July 2024) – 3:10 Uttoxeter: HUIT REFLETS
After two meetings with the lays called off this week – hopefully there are no issues at Uttoxeter today.
The horse I’m looking to take on is the Mark Walford runner Huit Reflets, who won at Hexham last time out.
However, that narrow head win was only his first career success from 22 starts and off a pound higher mark looks worth opposing.
Yes, that victory may give him the confidence to do it again, but that also came on much quicker ground (good) that he’s going to get today (soft).
The form of that last race has also taken a few knocks since – with the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th all running unplaced in their next outings.
There is also a jockey change today for Huit Reflets with Jamie Hamilton taking over from Tom Midgley. Hamilton has ridden the horse four times already this season and been placed in the first three each time – but he’s yet to win on this 7 year-old, which could be deemed another small negative.
Looking at the others in the race, we’ll have Clean Getaway and Milajess running for us, who have both been in good form of late. While Martalite (Killahena/McPhearson) and Catboy (Christian Williams) come from yards with good strike-rates over the last few weeks and could outrun their odds based on that.
