Has won his last two at Hamilton and so will catch the eye of many here. However, ALL five career wins have also been at that track and so the switch to Carlisle here today is the first negative.
So, the big question is – can he perform away from his favourite track? Past evidence – which included two unplaced runs here at Carlisle suggest he’s got a lot to answer on that front.
He’s also down slightly in trip (1m) and after that last win the handicapper has raised him another 4lbs – taking him to a career-high rating.
Arkenstaar also only scrambled home by a short-head the last day and so you just feel the handicapper might be catching up with this Michael Dods runner – especially with a big racing weight (9-10) to carry – which will be the most he’s ever carried in a contest.
