Friday (16th August 2024) – 4:00 Epsom: ETRETAT
This Charlie Johnston runner got off the mark at the 15th try at Wolves last time out, but will face totally different conditions here back on the turf and at Epsom – a track that is not easy for all horses to handle.
The handicapper has also raised Etretat 5lbs for that last win and is now off a rating of 67 – he’s tried to win off a mark of between 63 and 67 (higher than last time) three times and failed to hit the frame each time.
While he’s also 0-from-8 on the grass still – suggesting he’s got a lot to prove on the green stuff and is 6lbs higher than when last seen on the turf when 2nd at Carlisle last month.
Another negative for me is the form of the Charlie Johnston yard at the moment – they are just 4-from-69 with their recent runners and overall at Epsom the handler is only 1-from-36.
The five other runners all look to have a chance too, including CD winner Hello Cotai and other course winner Unreal Connection.
