Tom Marquand booked to ride this Brett Johnson runner is a slight worry – as are the first-time cheekpieces.
However, this 6 year-old still looks to have a few things to overcome as he searches for only his second career win from 10 outings.
Yes, the track here at Kempton seems to suit – with form here reading 2-3-2-4-2 – but Moel Arthur has still not got his head in front at the Sunbury-on-Thames venue.
The last of those course outings was in his most recent run a month ago – when second again, but beaten almost 4 lengths. The worry for me is the form of that race has taken a few knocks since with the 4th and 5th both well beaten since.
He’s also upped in grade here today – back into a Class 4 – but has run at this level four times before and still to win. In fact his only career win came at Lingfield back in Feb 2022 and off a mark of 67 – which is 9lbs lower than today. Oh, he also only just scrambled home that day by a short-head.
We’ll also have a strong army on our side in the shape of Banderas, Clan Chieftain and Robusto – while the Brett Johnson yard are also just 6-from-115 here at Kempton to give us one final thing to cling to.
