On paper this 5 year-old has plenty going for him – being a proven CD winner and coming here in form with a win and a second in his most recent races.
However, at the prices I still think he’s worth taking on in what looks a fairly open race with a lot of chances.
The main reason being Le Beau Garcon is 3lbs higher than when winning here in June and has tried to win off this 75 mark last time at Musselburgh – beaten 1 1/2 lengths.
Plus, when you look back in his form he’s tried to win off marks of 74 and 75 five times since last August and failed each time – despite running well.
The Easterby yard are in fair order at the moment too, but their track stats tell us that they’ve had just 5 winners here from their last 69 runners.
So, in an open affair, I’m happy to look elsewhere for the winner – with other course winners Alligator Alley and Rock Of England big players too, while the consistent Khabib and Dods runner Nelson Gay are also horses with squeaks.
