Just the five runners here so today’s lay comes with a few more risks, but all the entries seem to have something going for them.
The pick – Cerulean Bay, who looks set to be one of the favourites and I feel he looks to have a few questions to answer.
Okay, a recent second at Ascot caught the eye, but that was over a mile and is back to 7f here and, yes, he’s won over this trip in the past, but that came on only his second career run a year ago. However, more importantly this 3 year-old has been raised another 2lbs for that run by the handicapper which looks a tad harsh.
He’s raced off this rating three times in the past and pnly managed 8th, 4th and 5th, plus is still to win a race since he’s been gelded (6 tries). Add in another big racing weight (9-11) and also the fact he’s run three times here at Haydock without success, give us enough reasons to take him on today.
