Star Legend has been mixing it up over both codes with runs on the flat and over the jumps recently – but still has a poor wins-to-runs ratio – just one success from last 21.
Was last seen running 6th (of 8) on the level at Nottingham and has been second in his last two runs over the sticks at Fakenham and Market Rasen back in June.
However, the handicapper has raised him another 2lbs for the last of those runs over the jumps and having had a 7lb claimer on that day and only a 5lb claiming rider today – the horse actually has 4lbs more to carry.
The drop in trip here is likely to be okay, but it’s hard to get excited over a horse that’s won just the once and that success came off a mark of 96 (jumps) – so will need to try and double that tally today off a 5lbs higher rating.
There also seems to be several others in the race that we can take this James Owen runner on with – including the winner of this race in 2022 Eagle’s Realm, Queen Of Steel and Beholden. While the final thing to cling to is that the yard are 0-from-14 here at Stratford and haven’t had a winner overall in their last 10 runners in the last few weeks.
