Won for the second time in his career at Musselburgh last time out and will have many supporters off the back of that.

However, Protest Rally is up 5lbs for that win and now races off a mark of 57, so has a bit to prove having been beaten in and around this rating already this year.

He’ll also be facing much softer ground here today and the last time he raced with give underfoot, which was also here at Ripon, he was a well-beaten 10th (of 10).

The final negative is that in this slightly easier race (0-55) he’s also got a much bigger racing weight (9-11) to carry – he’s tried twice in the past with this weight and been out of the frame both times.

Therefore, all things considered, at the prices this Liam Bailey runner looks worth taking on today, with CD winner Foreseable Future just one of those with decent claim we’ll have running for us.
